Play it Forward Singapore is proud to be presenting Bach in the Subways in Singapore again this year!

Every year for Bach’s birthday a spontaneous, global community of musicians unites to sow the seeds for future generations of classical music lovers and share their joy and inspiration for their art form.

For 2018, we are happy to announce that Dale Henderson, founder of Bach in the Subways, will be performing at Tanjong Pagar Centre on Saturday, 24 March 2018 at 3.33pm in celebration of Bach‘s 333rd birthday.

Latest News: Archifest 2017

Special Edition: Collaboration with Archifest 2017 

  • Newest public pianos under the Esplanade Bridge

We are super happy to once again transform the space under the Esplanade Bridge into a free concert hall with our newest pair of pianos featuring original design by students from Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) and Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA)!

These two designs are the winning entries as part of the Archifest 2017 competition by Singapore Institute of Architects and Play it Forward Singapore. These pianos will be displayed under the Esplanade Bridge for public playing round the clock from 7 October to 30 November 2017. Not sure where Esplanade Bridge is?   • [ARCHI-INTERACE] Pianos in Public Spaces sharing session

As part of Archifest 2017, the founders of Play it Forward Singapore will also be doing an informal sharing on their experiences in giving old pianos a new lease of life through activating public spaces. Come meet with us at this sharing session on 15 October (Sunday) from 6:00pm to 7:00pm under the Esplanade Bridge, where our newest pianos are located.

archifest20logo-01Archifest is an annual public festival for Singapore to celebrate architecture and the built environment. It will build upon the pillars of the festival: Archi-InterfacesConferenceConversationsArchicraft and Architours. Held from 4 to 15 of October featuring a line-up of more than 50 events taking place at various locations island-wide over 2 weeks, the goal is to invite conversations and establish greater collaboration between various institutions and communities for an exciting festival.

We are pleased to announce another permanent location for our Play it Forward Singapore public piano: Bukit Panjang Community Club! This latest piano features the vibrant artwork by Singapore artist Maryann Loo. You can read all about her inspiration on this site here.

We are gearing up our 2017 plans to bring you more public pianos and brewing some exciting collaborations in the works. So stay tuned to our Facebook and Instagram page for the latest updates. Third Edition of Play it Forward Singapore: August – December 2016.

We are excited to announce that a new batch of Play it Forward Singapore pianos will be out in the city streets of Singapore again from 27 August!

For the third edition, we refurbished 2 public pianos with local illustrator Lee Wan Xiang and designer Abigael Tay. The pianos will be on display at SAM @ 8Q, Grassroots Book Room, under the Bayfront Avenue bridge and Suntec City Mall till 31 December 2016.

Also check out our special Christmas collaboration with OUE where 6 specially refurbished public pianos will be on display outside Mandarin Gallery from 1 – 31 December 2016! 3 pianos will feature the special Victoria’s Secrets’ angel wings to commemorate the new store opening in the mall.

Second Edition of Play it Forward Singapore – March to May 2016.

We are excited to announce that Play it Forward Singapore will be out in the city streets of Singapore from 4 March onwards!

8 public pianos have been refurbished by our local artists and will be placed in the Marina Bay area from 4 – 23 March 2016, as part of iLight Marina Bay 2016.

The public pianos are placed in pairs at the following locations:

  1. One Fullerton, Entrance Plaza
  2. Under the Esplanade Bridge
  3. The Float at Marina Bay, at Gate G2.
  4. Under the Bayfront Ave Bridge, near the end of the Helix Bridge near Marina Bay Sands and Art Science Museum.
